LATEST MATCH REPORTS...
Sussex vs London A team report

Another close one on a day where no-one quite seemed to be on top
of their game. Sussex, to be fair, took out a few good finishes
to punish us.
We won 7 of the first 8 frames then hit the first of a couple of dodgy
patches which helped the home side to 6-5 wins in the 2nd and 4th
sets. Thankfully the first and third sets, which we won, were won by
the higher margin of 7 frames to 4.
Mark Thrussell was the only London player not to lose a frame, while
Neil Toms, Danny Miller, Dean Wisher, Jack Pople and Joe Prince all
won 3 of their 4 frames. The fact that so many got 3/4 shows where the problem
was, with the other 5 of us only winning 5 out of a possible 20 between us,
something we really need to look to improve upon next time.
Sussex's new venue in Brighton is somewhat easier to get to than the
place in Chichester (although a bike rally in town on the day of the
match made the A23 a bit slower than normal), but hopefully if they
stay there something will be done about the tables and also the balls
for next season. The ones the A team had were rather dead; even a few
new cue balls might have made it a more enjoyable match for everyone.
It should be good for Sussex in the long run though.
Surrey won 26-18 so only caught up a couple of points on us. That means
the lead has been cut to 41 points.
