Half Season Review

The A Team haven’t really been tested this season and top their section by 39 points over Hampshire having comfortably won all 5 of their matches, including a 29-15 demolition of current National Champions, Surrey a fortnight ago. In the individual regional rankings GLCPA hold the top 4 places – Danny Miller, Dean Wisher, Jerry Tickell and Sean Halligan who are looking good for England Trials.
The B team are similarly placed having also won all their matches and lead their section by 21 points ahead of National Champions, Surrey. Surrey proved to be a stern test for London last month but with the scores tied at 21 apiece, Tony Bailey and Adam Coppen stepped up and made sure of an important win for the team. Individually, John Kelly is 2nd in the Regional B team rankings with Adam Coppen and Kyle Merrigan also near the top of the table.
The Ladies visit Berkshire today on the back of a very good 25-19 win over second placed Surrey which has taken them to just 5 points behind them in the table. A good win today should see the girls overhaul Surrey and claim second place. Sue Studman, Gill Buckingham and Linda Redwood are all in the top 16 in the Region and could be challenging for England trials come the end of the season.
The Juniors had a match to forget against Surrey last time out, although a high point was Jasper Bacon winning all 4 of his frames. Even with the defeat, our Juniors still lead their section by 17 points over Surrey and can enjoy a day off today.
Last but not least the C team have work to do if they want to catch the leaders but they are certainly capable of doing that. Jeremy has a difficult job managing a larger squad of players many of whom come and in and out from the B team. It’s important no matter where you are asked to play you give of your best and give your team-mates your full support.
Our next match is at home to Kent on 9th August.
