LATEST MATCH REPORTS...
Hamps B 13 London B 31
we go into our penultimate county match in a very comfortable position in the league. Any win guaratees us a place at Yarmouth for the national finals as Surrey will be already going back there to defend their title. But we didnt just want to go there on Surrey's heels , we wanted to go there as regional champions and i think this win which keeps us 27 points clear of Surrey going into our last match of the season , which is at home to Surrey , virtually guarantee's that . I think we would have to lose sopmething like 34-10 for us to lose the title. So although Surrey will be going to Yarmouth as defending champions , the team to watch , will be us.
Back to the match in hand , we were missing yet again a few players, two of which have now lost their chance to make 50% and will not be able to be a part of this great sqaud going to Yarmouth ( jamie Fay and Chris Yates ). I'm dissapointed to say the least to lose these players , especially jamie , as he was one of my golden boys at the start , one of the backbones of the team and i am very dissapointed in him.
We started the match in hampshires much improved new venue a bit out of sorts , myself winning but not deserving to , and then loosing the next two. We should of been 3-0 down and were very lucky to be only trailing 2-1. We ended up winning the first set 6-5 then the 2nd set 8-3 , back to a shakey 6-5 win in the 3rd set .
so 3 sets into the match , we had lost some we should of won and won some we should of lost , but i felt that the 20-13 scoreline was still a fair reflection of the match. I was thinking , if we win this last set 6-5 , i will be reasonably satisfied with a 26-18 scoreline , which should be enough to keep us well infront of surrey going into our last fixture. Especially with Surrey away to Kent.
Well someone must of told my team that Kent were getting their arses kicked and we went out and won the last set 11-0 with 2 great blacks to finish the match of in style from Robbie Robb and Alex Lawrence.
A 31-13 win without the already mentioned players and giving Rob Chalmers and Tony Bailey to the A team for the day and me having to recruit 3 from the C team is a very pleasing result.
Cmon then Surrey, lets have it.
oh, by the way , MOTM was me . lol
