A cue is like an extension to your arm for many players. Some people keep their's for years while others replace them every 6 months. How long have you owned your current cue?

Brian Dackombe - A mark of respect

Inter CountyFollowing the sad news of Brian passing away over Christmas, the Region Committee felt it right we all honour Brian's hard work for the Region/London/Pool over the years.

For those that didn't know Brian, he was a long standing member of the London County scene, and served the Region on the committee over numerous years. One of his notable achievements was setting up the formula for the current inter county fixtures, without the use of software etc, purely on paper, covering a ten year cycle, and worked tirelessly for the good of the game generally.

At the Region committee meeting held on 17/01/09 the following was agreed:

At all county matches on 1st Feb, 1 minutes silence will be observed by all teams as a mark of respect for Brian.

We trust this will be honoured by all, as we all owe a debt of thanks to Brian, and in Region 7 we are a big community who have pride and respect for our fellow players.

I was shocked to see the very sad news that Brian had passed away.

I remember Brian back in the early days down 'Angels' pool club in Islington where he tirelessly helped arrange and supervise pool competitions week in and week out, and was always there. He was always friendly, approachable, and got on with it. He was a nice guy to know.

His contribution to the pool community should not be underestimated and my symapthy goes out to his family.

Sincerely,

Graham Thompson

Sorry to hear the news, also remember him from the days back at the Angel, when I was playing for the London B squad.

Also remember bumping him by chance in 2004, we were on the same ferry crossing the channel to calais, and I recognized him as we were going back to out cars - had a quick chat. That was the last time I saw him.
