A cue is like an extension to your arm for many players. Some people keep their's for years while others replace them every 6 months. How long have you owned your current cue?

Bexleyheath WMC secure promotion

With two games to spare in the South London & Kent Pool Alliance Division Two winter season, Bexleyheath Working Mans Club have secured promotion into the first division.

After this week’s, 11-4 victory over third placed, New Eltham New Boys, they are now 49 points ahead of them, so will definitely be playing Division One pool next winter season.

The only team that can possibly prevent Bexleyheath winning the title are New Eltham Social Club, who are 29 points behind and have a game in hand.

The two play each other next week, so we will see whether Bexleyheath can win the title and if they can do it without losing a game.

The other game in the division was the basement battle, derby match between Happy Hustlers and Real Hustlers, which was close as each set was won by the odd frame, 3-2.

Jade Holmes, Donna Mullins and Matt Prince all won frames in the first set to give Happy Hustlers the better start, a 3-2 lead.

The second set went the same way, with new player, Reece Stewart winning his first frame for Happy Hustlers, joining Holmes and Claire Stork in giving them the set and a, 6-4 lead.

Holmes secured her hat-trick with the first frame of the last set and Stewart ended on an unbeaten brace to give his side the victory.

Real Hustlers pulled one back to make it, 8-5 but Stork won the penultimate frame to put the smiles on Happy Hustlers faces, with the set, before Real Hustlers took the last frame to make the final score, 9-6.

Happy Hustlers are now nine points ahead of their opponents in the table with a game in hand, so it looks like they’ll be keeping the bragging rights for this season.

The race to see who Bexleyheath may be replacing in Division One is a close one, as only 15 points separate fourth from ninth with five weeks still left to play.

Currently occupying bottom place is Just Bellegrove and it looked like they might be picking up a much needed victory, when they took a, 4-2 lead against Fox & Hounds but Fox fought hard and won five frames in a row to go, 7-4 up.

Fox went on to take the final set, 3-2 to win the match by 9 frames to 6 and leave Just Bellegrove six points adrift at the bottom.

Glen Ward and Kerry Wyatt both won all three of their frames to help put Fox into sixth, seven points ahead of their opponents.

Bellegrove A were only a point above their neighbours Just Bellegrove, but achieved a remarkable, 11-4 victory over fifth placed, Academicals to lift themselves one place into seventh, just three points behind their opponents.

Replacing Bellegrove A in ninth are CSC Sorry in Advance, who slip three places after a crushing, 12-3 defeat to top of the table, Rose Inn.

Rose took a, 4-0 lead but Martin Hart prevented the whitewash however, Rose continued to pile on the agony and went, 6-1 up before ending the set, 7-3 in the lead.

Unfortunately for CSC that was it, as Rose whitewashed the final set.

Hart won two of CSC’s three frames with Aaron Shephard the other winner.

Dean Greany-Parr and Lewis Hearn both won all three of their frames but man of the match has to go to Jack Wilson, who won the first frame of each set, with the first two being seven-ballers.

Rose Inn increased their lead at the top of the table to eight points after Crayford Arms suffered their second defeat in a row, this time by 11 frames to 4 against third placed, New Eltham Club.

This result brings New Eltham Club to within three points of Crayford however, the top three are fourteen points clear, so it looks like they will be fighting it out to see who gains automatic promotion and who finishes in the play-off spot.

The SLKPA Premier Division relegation fight is also hotly contested with 15 points separating fifth from tenth.

The bottom two faced each other this week, as Eltham Terrace Nuthouse went to Rugrats.

Nuthouse took a, 2-1 lead but ended up losing the first set, 3-2 and to make matters worse Rugrats won the first four frames of the second set, with Shane O’Reilly preventing the whitewash.

He couldn’t do the same in the final set though, with Rugrats taking it, 5-0 to win the match, 12-3 overall.

O’Reilly won two of his team’s frames with Jon Syta taking the other.

Rugrats finished the game with four unbeaten players, Ashley Hewson and Mark Knevett both winning two frames and Dafydd Ruffell and Steve Gibson scored three out of three.

This result has lifted Rugrats from tenth to eighth, six points ahead of Nuthouse, replacing them at the bottom.

In between the two are Pickwick, who had a tough test against second placed, Hotshots this week.

The test was made even tougher when Hotshots whitewashed the first set however, Pickwick stuck at it, picking up frames here and there to maintain the five frame difference, giving Hotshots the 10-5 triumph.

Richard Chapman came out of the scrappy affair with an unbeaten hat-trick.

Pickwick are sandwiched equally between Rugrats and Nuthouse by three points, while Hotshots are still fourteen points off the top.

Still top of the shop are Allstars, winning 11-4 against Sharks.

Stacy Redman and Ritchie Mitchell both won two of their three frames, with Redman pulling off a ridiculous clearance in the final set.

Three of the other Allstars were unbeaten, with Jamie Simons winning his only frame, Tony Halpin back to his best with a hat-trick and Derek Power also chipping in with three frames.

Eltham Terrace Club A couldn’t close the gap on the top two after they went down, 10-5 to seventh placed, New Eltham.

It was probably New Eltham’s best performance of the season, with Dean James performing a break and dish and Barry Barham potting the black while escaping from a snooker, after he lost position on the black for a break and dish himself, and all of that in the first set, which they won, 4-1.

They went on to take the following two sets, 3-2 to secure the unexpected victory.

Captain, Paul Elford led from the front, winning all three of his frames but it was a team performance, with all six players chipping in with at least a frame.

This result has meant New Eltham has leapfrogged Sharks into sixth place by just one point.

Above New Eltham sitting in fourth and fifth are Hustlers and Eltham Terrace Rovers, who played each other this week.

You would never have known there was only six points between the two sides when Hustlers raced to a, 7-2 lead but Rovers showed their metal and won the next five frames to tie the match at seven all and send it into a final frame decider.

The final frame was tense and went right down to the black ball, which Paul Williams eventually potted to give Hustlers the, 8-7 triumph.

Paul Donohoe was the only unbeaten player for Hustlers, winning both of his frames and despite finishing on the losing side, Rovers had three unbeaten players, Darren Porter, Chris Hobbis and Matt Holroyd, all finishing on a brace too.

Hustlers are now three points behind Eltham Terrace Club A and Rovers five points ahead of New Eltham.

With six matches to go it looks like everything is still to play for.
