Not so Simply Lovleh for Hustlers
With just three games of the South London & Kent Premier Division left, Hustlers Simply Lovleh are in danger of being relegated for the first time in their history, after dropping into the relegation play-off place this week.
This week they played second bottom, Hustlers B and were expected to win but the B team produced a massive shock, winning by 11 frames to 4.
Captain, Trevor Biggs led the way winning both of his frames, but team mate Sam Pearce went one better with an unbeaten hat-trick.
This victory puts the B team just eight points behind their opponents, ramping up the excitement for the last three games.
Hotshots have also pushed up the excitement levels at the top of the table, after a crushing victory over the bottom team, Bellegrove Social Club this week.
Before this week Hotshots were six points behind Eltham Terrace Rovers at the top but they took a massive step towards overtaking them, with a, 14-1 triumph.
Richard Chapman scored two out of two, but Andre Cox, Danny Kelliher and Connor Hewson all finished with three out of three.
This win put the pressure on Rovers, who were playing Eltham Terrace Nuthouse at the same venue as Hotshots.
Shane O’Reilly piled on even more pressure by taking the first frame with a dish from a dry break, but Rovers ended up nicking the set, 3-2 after Ryan Francis won frame five with his own break and dish.
The second set went exactly the same as the first, going to a final frame decider which Francis won with a dish from a dry break to give Rovers a, 6-4 lead going into the final set.
Nuthouse took the first two frames to tie the match, but Rovers won the next two to not only win the match but also send each set into a final frame decider.
Once again Francis was the anchor man and once again he took the glory to give his side the, 9-6 victory, which was enough to keep Rovers at the top by just one point.
Joining Francis on three frame wins was team mate Elliot Giles and Nuthouse’s O’Reilly.
The form that has seen Pickwick rise up the table and lift themselves out of the relegation places continued this week, as they met third placed Bellegrove.
The match couldn’t be closer after the first two sets, at five frames all but Pickwick stepped it up in the final set, fudging their way to a 4-1 victory, for an overall, 9-6 triumph.
Pickwick’s Billy Levingbird nicked three frame wins, with Martin Storey nudging his way to an unbeaten hat-trick, while Bellegrove’s Steve Lloyd played well for his three wins.
Pickwick are now five points ahead of Simply Lovleh and thirteen ahead of Hustlers B, so it’s going to be a real fight to the end of the season to see who will avoid relegation.
Meanwhile Bellegrove have lost ground on the top two, not only are they thirteen points behind but they’ve also dropped to fourth, after Eltham Terrace Club A thrashed Hustlers A.
Mark Eldridge was the inspiration behind the, 11-4 victory, winning all three of his frames, while Hustlers had Joe Kane to thank for keeping them in the game, after he won half of his team’s frames.
Terrace are now ten points behind the top two, but Hustlers are dicing with the relegation dogfight, as they are only seven points above the relegation play-off place.
SLKPA Division Two had their final matches this week, with champions Bellegrove Flyers breaking 150 points, after an 11-4 victory over bottom team, Happy Hustlers.
New Eltham Club had already secured promotion alongside Flyers, so it didn’t matter too much that they were beaten, 8-7 by Academicals this week.
Despite the loss the team played well, with Captain, Jeff Bailey winning all three frames for the second week running, Jamie Phillips won two of his three frames and Gary Mason and Shane Burnett chipped in with a frame a piece.
This narrow victory meant that Academicals couldn’t catch North Heath Social Club in the play-off spot, so it didn’t matter that North Heath were also beaten, 8-7 by Foots Cray Social Club.
North Heath will now play Fox & Hounds to see who will be playing Division One pool next winter season.
