A cue is like an extension to your arm for many players. Some people keep their's for years while others replace them every 6 months. How long have you owned your current cue?

GLCPA 2017 AGM
28th January 2018
Spots and Stripes – 10.30AM

MOTIONS

1. Proposer: Mickey Clayton
Seconded:

Proposal
Whatever percentage of monies that get paid by each party, returns get paid in equal proportion to the original investment.

Rationale
In the past (and I'm led to believe that it is still the case) if a team within the County wins the region the County will split the accommodation fee with the players 50-50. In return, any monies that are won by that team in the finals are then split with the County 50-50. However, if a team qualifies for the national finals without winning the region then the team are expected to pay the full accommodation fee 100-0. Yet any monies that are won by that team in the finals are then kept by the region 0-100.

2. Proposer: Pete Thomas
Seconded: Mickey Clayton

Add wording to 1.7- new wording in italics

1.7 The Association will be responsible for administering the organisation and promotion of teams representing the County in inter-county competitions within the region and at national level. The process in place for team selection should be based on merit of which the criteria is clearly outlined at the beginning of each county season

Proposal
It is proposed that as a county we write into our constitution that in the interest of being fair and transparent, that there should be a process in place for team selection that is based upon merit and results and not personal opinions.
The committee alone may override this process in extenuating circumstances but this should be for the exception and not the rule.
There should be a clear and consistent approach to team selection where players are promoted or demoted according to their performance. At minimum this selection should be performed on an annual basis.
Each county player should know that they will progress to higher level teams should they consistently outperform their peers. Similarly that they will be demoted if they consistently underperform.

Rationale
1) The current way of deciding team squads is not transparent and the current stats system obfuscates true player ranking with attendance and merits point which are not required.
2) Teams are currently chosen by captains which could appear, or lead, to choices not based entirely on merit.
3) Existing and new county players should see a clear and transparent path of achievement and promotion based on individual performance.
4) To promote a culture of excellence and increase motivation throughout the squad.
5) By introducing a purely results based system there would be more motivation for both players wanting to move up and also for players not wanting to be relegated, it is hoped this will increase the work players put into their game whether that be study, practise or attitude.
