A cue is like an extension to your arm for many players. Some people keep their's for years while others replace them every 6 months. How long have you owned your current cue?

  S17 week 14 match reports
by: Cocked-Hat, 12-08-2017 03:57 PM (#1)

Late night drama on the Heath.
We have finally reached the last set of matches in the South London & Kent Pool Alliance league.
Some of the divisions are already resolved but there are still final playoff spots and Elite league title & Tier 2 West champions still to be claimed.
But it was the match at North Heath Social Club that was to produce the drama of the night.
Bellegrove Flyers travelled armed to the teeth for their match of the season at North Heath needing just 2 points to secure the playoff spot.
Set 1 did not go to plan, Flyers pool was strung with errors of miscuing and not hitting cushions and rightly lost the set 3-2.
The second set saw some head scratching and knuckling down as the Flyers finally got their heads together and won the set 3-2 to level the match at one set all & 5-5.
Set 3 was nicely set up when Ian Stringer knocked in a double which was probably the shot of the match to put his team in front.
But by the end of the fourteenth frame the scores were all level at 7-7.
In the final frame “Lamb Chop” potted the last ball on the table to give the Flyers the points they needed to secure the win 2-1 (8-7) and grab the playoff spot.
Notable performances from Graham Lamb with 3/3 consisting of fudging with a cool head, Nick Stumpy Stearns with a neat 2/2 and a well fought 2/3 from Keith Mitchell.
Champions Pickwick had a 3-0 (13-2) over the Falconwood Club A.
Pickwick ran riot and won the first 2 sets 5-0 to set up 10-0 lead
Pickwick played some great pool, Paul Gafa with a solid hat trick his 8th of the season.
Martin Storey and Rob Taylor knocked in a black by doubling the cue ball to win the last set decider as both players won 3/3.
Pickwick played like the champions they are to round off a great season.
Elsewhere in the League Eltham Terrace Rack Pack won 3-0 (9-6) against C & Mrs & Miss Cues.
Chris Parett had 3/3, Tony Frost and Steve unwin won 2/3 on the night.
Finally Rose Inn beat Foots Cray Social Club 2-1 (9-6) with the sets at 1-1 and 2-2 in games in the final set it was the two captains that fought it out.
Neil Mundy and George Haydon it went down to the black ball, Haydon tried to double it and left it over the hole for Mundy to win the match for the Rose Inn.
Dean Greary-Parr broke and dished in the last set for the Rose Inn.
The Elite Lleague was won by second place team before play began on the night, Hotshots.
They had a great win over away to the Falconwood Club 2-1 which gave them 3 points.
The team currently at the top, Falconwood lost to Eltham Terrace Rovers by the same score.
Falconwood dropped to runners up spot due to their defeat
Eltham Terrace A won their match away to bottom team Royal Oak 1-2 (10-5) and finished in third spot overall.
First two sets were tight and the first was won by Eltham Terrace A 3-2.
Royal Oak took the second by the same score, with Royal Oak’s Phil Tworek winning 2/3 on the night.
Eltham Terrace then secured the win by taking final set 5-0 with Dan Heinink winning 3/3 and a break and dish by Dave Rawlinson to secure the set in the third frame.
In the final game of the Elite League, newly formed Falcons avoided dropping into the relegation zone by beating the already relegated Bellegrove Social Club.
Their win guarantees them another season in the Elite League.
Defeat for the Falconwood Club drops them down to Tier Two next season.
In Tier Two West, Eltham Terrace Nuthouse secured the title and Promotion back to the Eliite League at the first attempt by victory over the Happy Hustlers 2-1 (11-4)
In second place and playoff place were the Sharks although they won 3-0 against bottom team Academicals was not enough to get them the title.
Academicals put up good fight losing the first two sets 3-2 and lost the last 4-1.
Nick Morris won 2/3 and Jenny Pearmund, Gary Mason and Tony Bailey all chipped in with one each for Academicals
Elsewhere in the league Hustlers B pinched third spot from Crayford Social Cub Rugrats with a 3-0 (9-6) win.
No unbeaten players for Hustlers but Rugrats Ian Cruwys score 3/3 on the night.
In the final game of the group Bellegrove A won 2-1 (7-8) to Fox & Hounds but ending up sharing the points.
A disastrous first set for the Bellegrove losing it 4-1 but levelled the match in the second winning it 3-2.
In the final set it went to the last game and Lynn Maher-Bulbul produced a great finish to the match over Kerry Wyatt to secure the set win.
